The Ratman of Southend

hauntingly good

This was a side project I undertook when working on my Coraline project for my uni FMP. this was a short comic I made about the urban legend of the same name. This project has seen a few other works added to the work ever since.

The Legend

The urban myth itself tells of an elderly homeless man who only possessed a sleeping bag and struggled with basic things like walking. One cold winter night, he took refuge in the underpass by Queensway, suddenly a gang of drunken youths came across the man.

They assaulted the man - leaving him black and blue and made off with his sleeping bag. beaten half to death, bleeding and shivering he was certainly going to die, as he did though he was set upon by rats in the vicinity who ate the flesh off his face. He was found in such a gruesome state the next day.

Ever since then, locals have reported hearing high pitch screeches, scraping of sharp claws and some have even seen blood on the walls and a ghost. A ghost of a man with the face of a rat.
